We live in a community of savvy and thoughtful people coming from a range of professions and communities across the globe.
Government has no need to shelter itself or its actions from public scrutiny. We entrust our leaders to make decisions that are in our community's best interest, and all such decisions can and should be put forth before the people for debate and consensus.
As mayor I will require elected officials to disclose in writing and publicly in council meetings why they are recusing themselves from a vote.
Also: - tighten the rules on conflicts of interest and for-profit activites that run parallel to the city's interest.
- Strictyly limit the amount of money campaigns can raise and
the amounts that can be spent as independant expenditures by third parties.
